Ok, fellow mamas. I write this as my three small children literally hang on my legs, crawl under my feet, attempt over and over again to have their way with the keyboard–you can picture it, I’m sure. Here’s a visual just in case.
I’m in the trenches of little people-dom and could use all the help/recommendations/tips I can get. Maybe you’re right there with me.
The inspiration for this post came when we recently added a new product to our family, and it’s amazing to me what a difference it has made. I like mornings again. If you have toddlers who might possibly occasionally like to wake up on the early side, please put yourself out of your misery if at all possible and buy it. We have found it to be more than worth it so far. More on what it is in a minute.
Since this item has so greatly improved my quality of life (it’s the little things right now, you know?), it got me thinking…
I bet there are moms (new and seasoned) who might like to hear from another mom in the exact same stage just what has actually been a “must have” product for me.
From one mom in the trenches to another, here’s my list of 5 items that will make your mom life easier. I know, because out of everything we’ve bought and received over the years, these are my absolute top, must-have, favorite products–and with 3 kids back to back to back with another on the way, we have had a lot of “stuff”!
Here are my most highly recommend items:
This was on my must-have list when I had my second baby, and it has been hand’s down my favorite baby item I’ve ever had. Not only has it made life easier on a practical level (like you can make a homemade pizza while holding a newborn), it has given me absolutely priceless cuddle moments that I’m going to remember forever. I’ve tried several baby carriers and this is by far my favorite.
This thing is amazing!!! Our boys share a room (ages 4 and 2.5) and their party starts the minute either of them wake up. Then the rest of us wake up. I was really struggling with how to teach them when it was ok to get up and start their day, and this has helped immensely. It plugs into the wall so it doesn’t take a ton of batteries and has different settings based on your needs.
The only drawback is the lowest light setting is still a bit bright in my opinion but we make it work. The boys now run into our room every morning (at the time we set) SO excited to tell us that their clock turned green.
This was a hard purchase for me to make because we had used a non-video monitor for a year and it seemed to be fine. But finally we broke down and I’ve never regretted it. It is so helpful to have a visual of what’s going on in the baby’s room–is there a leg stuck in the crib slat, are they awake, is the blanket wrapped around them, how is the temperature, etc. When our third baby came along, we bought another camera and it switches from room to room so I can see all three kids.
It’s the little things, right? My recommendation: buy one for every stroller you use. We’ve used ours hundreds of times. I’d be lost without it.
We have gotten so much use out of this thing. We have two now, and this is what we use as high chairs from the beginning. We’ve taken ours with us on trips (even packed it in a suitcase once), when we go to someone’s house for a meal, to the park, etc.
*And this isn’t part of my list, but for all you pregnant mamas, I highly recommend this pillow! It makes such a difference, especially the further on you get in the pregnancy.
