How was your September? Ours was HOT! September is usually pretty hot where I live (So Cal), but we had a couple unusually crazy heat waves this month so I am so very ready for Fall.
This month I finally mustered up the courage to take all three kids to the pool by myself for the first time. Our boys love the water and I like this 1 ft. deep pool in our neighborhood. It’s basically like a really big bath tub. It would have been nice if I had figured out how to successfully do the pool thing earlier in the summer, but I’m sure we still have plenty of hot weeks ahead–even though it’s now October.
The other huge thing this month for us is PRESCHOOL! What a huge undertaking this is turning out to be–but in a good way. I love having structured fun and learning time, and the boys (especially our 3.5 year old) is really enjoying it.
I’ve been a little slow to get organized and figure out the best rhythm for planning ahead and that sort of thing. But we’re a few weeks into it now and it’s starting to go a lot more smoothly. I spend about an hour or so over the weekend planning for the week ahead, make sure I have all the supplies we’ll need, and check out or request books from the library for the upcoming weeks.
I’m gearing it toward our 3.5 year old, but as you can see in the photo below, our 2 year old is every bit as involved as his big brother. 🙂
This little one turned 8 months old this month. I feel like I think this every month, but this month really is my favorite so far! Her little personality is really starting to come. Lots of babbles, attempts at crawling, sort of waving, and the most slobbery kisses you can imagine. Doesn’t get better than that!
For the first time ever we had our family photos taken outdoors. We found a wonderful photographer who had SO MUCH patience with our kiddos. Unfortunately it took place on a really hot day. By 9:30am it was already about 90 degrees outside. I was drenched in sweat at the end of our session, but we got the kids to smile at mostly the same time. Then we went and walked around a very air-conditioned mall for a couple hours.
Next up for October: COOKING. Big, bold letters to describe the task before me. Meals and freezer foods are chosen. So far I’ve made a big batch of pizza sauce to keep us set for the next several weeks of Pizza and Movie night. Now I’m off to start my massive grocery shopping list. How’s that for a fun Friday night activity? 🙂
What are you doing this fun Friday night?
